President Donald Trump’s new tax proposal has been signed into law. He called it “one big, beautiful bill” before it passed. We call it anything but. 

A study by the Citizens Research Council of Michigan found that, in addition to deep federal cuts, the law will blow a $1.1 billion-dollar “hole” in Michigan’s budget. The numbers at play here are almost unimaginable but the hurt will be real. Food assistance will dwindle and health insurance plans will see widespread restrictions.

There are real consequences for our natural and built environments, too. That’s why the Michigan Environmental Council, Michigan League of Conservation Voters and Sierra Club Michigan Chapter are coming together to talk about them in “Flood Proof.”

In this webinar series, we wade through the deluge of federal news and dredge up what it means for Michigan. We will also share ways organizations and individuals are protecting air, water and beloved places from it all.
