Trent Wolf joined the staff in September 2023. He is the builder of the Environmental Council’s political strength, running coordinated lobbying and campaign efforts internally and in coordination with member groups and coalitions. In his role, Trent also serves as the president and campaign manager for the MEC Action Fund, the Environmental Council’s 501(c)4 arm.   

Trent joins the Michigan Environmental Council with nearly a decade of legislative and political experience in the Michigan House of Representatives. He served as senior adviser and legislative director to Michigan House Majority Floor Leader Abraham Aiyash (D-Hamtramck) and as legislative director to former Rep. Frank Liberati (D-Allen Park). In these roles, he helped create and advocate for policies that ended water shutoffs, protected people from hazardous pollutants, and held utility companies accountable for pollution and high rates.

Trent has also managed a political consulting firm, running Leader Aiyash’s reelection campaign, the Southpaw MI political action committee, and various campaigns at the state and local level. 

Trent is a lifelong Michigander, having grown up in the Downriver area and currently lives in Metro Detroit. He has a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Central Michigan University.

When away from work, Trent enjoys playing disc golf, watching the Detroit Lions, and traveling with his wife, Brigitte—Pictured Rocks and the Lake Michigan coast are two favorites.
