Selma Tucker joined the Environmental Council’s board in 2021.
The Grand Rapidian is an entrepreneur with the heart of a public servant who uses his 15 years of multi-sector experience to help Michgian’s economy grow. As principal of GSO Solutions, he uses expertise in storytelling, public policy development, strategy, facilitation, and capacity building to help Michigan institutions practice equity and to attach their growth to outcomes in exceptional service and stakeholder feelings of ownership.
Previously, Selma worked as director of strategic communications for the Michigan Municipal League where he led the organization’s transition to a community wealth-building service model. This came after more than seven years of executive leadership at Public Sector Consultants focused on organizational growth and public policy communication. Selma’s leadership also extends to the growth of Michigan Saves, one of the nation’s oldest and most successful green banks.
Other entities Selma has served include the City of Grand Rapids, the City of Buchanan, Huron-Clinton Metroparks, Consumers Energy, the Council of Michigan Foundations, and neighborhood organizations.
The west Michigan resident holds bachelor’s degrees in public administration and political science and a master’s degree in public administration, both from Grand Valley State University.
In addition to his Environmental Council board position, Tucker volunteerism shows up at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library Foundation, Opera Grand Rapids, Michigan Saves, and the Delta Project.
