Mark Ogland-Hand joined the Michigan Environmental Council staff in January 2024. He ensures the Environmental Council team and its members have the financial support they need to make our air, water and places we love stronger. He works collaboratively with foundations, other grant-givers, and his teammates to make sure gifts are best used to make change happen.
Mark joins the Environmental Council after 13 years with Habitat for Humanity of Kent County, where he served as the senior donor relations specialist. There, by establishing strong relationships with donors, he helped hundreds of families find strength and stability through affordable homes. He also aided Habitat Kent’s transition to all-electric houses.
Mark’s past experiences put Habitat Kent’s focus on housing and faith into practice. He previously worked in construction project management, owned his own construction business, and served as both a fundraiser and a master’s graduate at Fuller Theological Seminary in California, where he grew up.
When off work, Mark enjoys reading, walking, and following Major League Baseball. He also enjoys visiting his lakefront cottage near Newaygo and the North Country Trail, which serves as a haven and a place to take in Michigan’s forests and inland waterways.
Mark lives in Grand Rapids with his wife. They have two adult children.
