Jennifer McKay joined the Environmental Council Board of Directors in 2018, rising to its chair.

McKay just recently stepped down as chief policy and government affairs director for the Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council. In this role, she lead the development, execution, and evaluation of the organization’s policy work to improve water resources protection and serves to ensure that priority positions and local, state, and national advocacy outcomes are effectively achieved.

Prior, McKay worked for the Public Interest Research Group and for the Michigan Legislature. She also previously served on the Michigan Pipeline Safety Advisory Board.

The Petoskey resident currently serves on the Great Lakes Commission, Michigan Underground Storage Tank Authority, Healing Our Waters–Great Lakes Coalition Governance Board, the Land Information Access Association Board of Directors Emmet County Local Emergency Planning Committee and Northern Michigan Area Committee.

Bolstering her experiences are degrees in environmental studies and political science from Michigan State University.
