A lifelong Michigander with a deep appreciation for the state’s natural beauty, Bill Arnold serves as Development Manager at the Michigan Environmental Council. He brings more than two decades of experience in nonprofit fundraising, administration and education—and a steadfast belief in the power of connecting people with purpose to advance meaningful change.

Before joining the Environmental Council, Bill led development and donor engagement efforts for the Michigan History Foundation and Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where he worked closely with leadership and community partners to strengthen relationships and support mission-driven growth. His approach to fundraising is rooted in collaboration, authenticity and shared values rather than simply metrics or sales tactics.

Bill grew up exploring Michigan’s woodlands and rivers, an experience that continues to inspire his work protecting the state’s environment and communities. He and his wife, Lisa, recently settled in Lansing, just blocks from the Environmental Council’s office. They have two adult children, Amelia and Alex, and spend much of their free time at their cottage near Mackinaw City. When he’s not outdoors hiking, biking, skiing or kayaking, Bill enjoys running local trails and discovering new Michigan craft breweries.
