Alisha Bell joined the Environmental Council’s board in 2019.

She chairs the Wayne County Board of Commissioners, which she has served on since 2002. She schedules and presides over meetings; drafts and administers the commission budget; supervises commission employees; and approves committee appointments.

Alisha is also board chair of the Wayne County Zoological Authority, Wayne County HealthChoice, National Association of Counties’ Justice and Public Safety Committee. She serves on the boards of Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. as well.

The lifelong Detroiter’s past experiences are just as far-reaching. Alisha has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a masters degree in education. Bell also was Detroit’s Sylvan Learning Center director, president of the National Association of Black County Officials and assistant branch manager at Comerica Bank.
